DW 02: Das Integrationshaus - Refugees and Asylum Seekers

Integrationhouse is a competence center dealing with welcoming and integration of refugees, asylumseekers and migrants. It is well approved and accepted nationally and internationally, it is an important antipole to segregation and racism. It stands for diversity and social justice.

“Integration of refugees – care and perspective”

An introduction to the situation of refugees in Austria is given as well as a presentation of the social work in the Integrationshaus.

Afterwards we visit projects regarding unaccompanied minor refugees, projects regarding assisted living and education.  Here an international exchange should happen about how the reception of refugees takes place in different countries.

Since Feb 2017 Wiener Wohnen is running a special program with specialzed social workers to avoid evictions and give support in case of problems with paying the rent. Extreme, radical, fanatic: practical experiences from the perspective of the extremism information center

 The workshop will present the work of the extremism information center as nationwide contact point for parents, teachers, social workers or any other person seeking advice concerning issues of extremism. Furthermore it will deal with concepts of extremism and discuss driving and pushing factors that may lead to violent extremism.

Homelessness – a violation of human rights

The first part of our workshop will be an interactive lecture about housing as a basic human right, current challenges and obstacles and the resulting implications for homeless assistance services. In a second part we will provide insight into our approach to work at neunerhaus and our services. The concluding part of our workshop will be reserved for an extended discussion and an informal end
